besides the suffix code and engine I.D #'s is there a way to visually identify a 327 sbc from a 350 sbc

The rear crank flange is a little different looking IIRC.

Been a while, but seems to me like the 327 block has a notch in the casing just beside and above the water pump flange on one side, and the 350 doesn't. Have to look at both side by side to remember just how it was but it was a flange sticking out that made a notch about 1/2 inch wide and deep. Hard to explain.

Look at picture on passenger side of engine just above the water pump flange.

The 350 is a bit different there, may not be true for all years?
