I read that article with some interest. No comparison is ever perfectly apples to apples, and neither was this one, but it was about as close as you're likely to come. Some of the more interesting things I noticed....

The 327HP 5.3L LS327 ran just about the same as the bigger 355HP ZZ4 5.7L engine (although they used a slightly taller rear gear with the ZZ4).

The 430HP 6.2L LS3 ran quicker and faster than the bigger 425HP ZZ383 engine (although with slightly different converter and gearing) AND it ran about the same as the considerably bigger 430HP ZZ427 big block (again with slight gearing and converter differences).

The monster 720HP ZZ720-R ran times similar to an old 454 big block Chevelle I owned many moons ago.... but I was running nitrous on my engine!
