View Full Version : Z-28 intake (Winters Forge) jerry lits 12-02-2008, 11:44:45 AM Can someone please tell me if the "W" above the 1&3 cylinders indicate a winters forge intake, & was this the original Z-28 high rise intake?? Manifold # is 3932472 Thanks Jerry Twisted_Metal 12-02-2008, 11:50:53 AM Not sure about a "W".... I thought they had a snowflake trademark cast into them. Gary S 12-02-2008, 12:20:22 PM I have one here with a script style W within the snowflake, and it is cast over the 1-3 cylinder area. If yours is a GM manifold, it should have a casting number on it too. Post that number and someone can tell you what it is. Does that one ^^^^ have the "snowflake" or just a "W"? This is the mark for Winter's Foundary I'm familiar with..... http://i2.ebayimg.com/01/i/001/1b/e4/6b38_12.JPG COPO 12-02-2008, 03:50:04 PM Don't know cause it's on ebay. deputyrob 12-02-2008, 08:15:46 PM if the 3932472 is a 69 Z intake, then why is there an oil fill tube. thought chevy stopped usin those in 68. or is it cuz since it was a Z, all bets were off Air_Adam 12-02-2008, 11:34:11 PM They still left the boss on the intake for the tube, they just didn't cut it out. It was pretty easy to add the tube later, and done often. spicewood1 12-02-2008, 11:54:13 PM Some of you guys new to Chevrolet? All of the Winters Foundry logo makers marks, commonly called the snowflake, have the "W" inside. You will find it on just about everything they ever made - intakes, heads, and blocks. Some dummies remove the logo when polishing the exterior of these parts and are probably very sorry now. I recall seeing a Yenko aluminum block many years ago that may not have had the logo, having Yenko instead. All Z28 aluminum intakes even through 1972 have the depressed boss in front for the oil fill tube, even though not used since late 60's. Just easier I guess not to change the casting equipment. |
