Just saw these im going tomorrow to pick em up. any obvious flaws or specific damage to look for visually before i get em. Seems like a good deal too.

i dont know much anything about these heads, but i would absolutely do some research on the casting numbers. people will try to pass anything off as something better...

they will have no accessory bolt holes. depending on how old they are, they could have staggered valve cover bolt holes. you may want to pass on em anyways...and wait for set of 041, 186 or 492 heads to come along..if you are lookin for closed chamber hi perf stock heads.

I went and dug up my old notes on GM cylinder heads. The casting #s will either be #520 or #896 for 1958-up 283 Power Pack or 1957-60 Fuel Injection heads, they have 1.72" intake and 1.50" exhaust valves, 59cc combustion chambers. The indendtifying casting mark will be a narrow triangle over a rectangle.

are you planning on putting them on a 283 or 305? Last trip to the metal recyclers, I think I threw 2 sets away. Jim

520s-896s are what you are looking for, if you want once was referred to as "Power Pack" heads. They will have a "Pyramid" or triangle, over the block, as the casting mark on the end of the head, they will have 1.72 int and 1.50 exh. The 461s, 462s, 186s, 041s etc.. camel humps over blocks, are all good heads too, the next generation, 1.94 int, etc. it all depends what you want??
Not trying to sound pompous, but I'm old enough to know when these #s were current hot items!!! LOL

Only a good deal if you don't need the accessory holes, and if they will run as there are, and don't need new springs. Otherwise, I'd save the $100 for something else.
