Hello everyone, after a lot of research I bought this engine for $1,100
Everything is brand new except for the block, but it's had tons of work done to it so it looks and acts brand new.

It's going into this car-

Anyways, I need some help with small things like a radiator, motor mounts, and so on. The car currently has a 3.8L 229 Cubic Inch V6 in it. Once I've gathered up all the parts and learn how to do it, I'll post a project thread of the swap. So anyways, what are some things that I'll need when I swap from the V6 to the V8? My car was very strangely optioned with a TH350 and a V6, or maybe that's not so uncommon? Thanks for any help!

First off.... Keep the A/C!
Last time I checked, Virginia gets quite warm during Camaro driving season. ;)

V8 fan shroud (Or shorten this one.)
Shorter valve covers. (Your A/C bracket won't clear these tall ones.)
AutoZone direct replacement aluminum raditor (Approx. $120)
You've got an HEI distributor but you'll need a non-computer carb.
(I would recommend a Q-jet but the intake is a square bore so you would need an adapter to run the Q-Jet.)

IIRC.... The motor mounts need to be moved on the frame for a V8 transplant.
I have a pic of where they need to be for a V8.

Is your tranny a TH350C?

thats a lot of hoses... lol i used the kragen direct replacement heavy duty radiator 433162, and im using it with a proform electric fan and my motor never goes above 190... when i went from a 250 L6 i had to step up my puny 5/16 fuel line to a 3/8's, and now it seems to run better at higher speeds... i used the aluminum fuel line spools from summit, and one 25 ft spool will be plenty. i also got some flowtech headers from kragen for 99 bucks in stock, and they work great but the fitment was wierd... finished it off with jegs 2.5inch exhaust, universal x-pipe kit, offset/offset thrush chambered/welded mufflers and the exhaust sounds AWESOME!! and was pretty easy on the wallet too. thats pretty much all i got to add... good luck!

Basically what was posted before.
Since we don't know the cam, I'll assume its a .450" lift 215º dur mild bumpstick, better than stock, but not radical at all.

Trade off the valve covers.
Add a Holley 600 to 670 vacuum secondary Carb.
1.625" headers and 2.5" exhaust, turbo mufflers and an X-pipe.
The 3/8' fuel line is a good idea if you have a 5/16" which may have been a 250 I-6 line only, can't recall. The Aluminum Autozone, Proliance radiator that is direct fit, V8 shroud plus the clutch fan (you should have that) and of course keep the AC.

Also look into better gearing than the 2.41-2.73 gears you have now. Maybe 3.08 to 3.42 depending on cam and the car's usage. Also a 2000 -2400 rpm lock-up converter.

Unfortunately, my AC had to be removed already. It was all torn apart, no saving it. :whine:

Is that a good choice for an exhaust system? I'm a high school student with a part time job, so the cash is tight.
Since the time I bought the engine, I've been looking for the receipt so I can contact the guy to ask him about the internals to determine what size carb I should get. Thanks for the help guys!

Got any specs on the new engine?
