Here are some pics of the 1970 RS I purchased, I now have it in my shop stripped down, after removing the vinyl top I found lots of rust. I have a new roof skin and trunk pan and other patch panels to install. After I replace some panels I am going to have it chemical dipped. I have cut out the trunk pan and cut the new one to fit, also the pillars and dash have rust ,I have rebuilt the pillars and I will be patching the dash corners. It has rust in the typical areas that will need to be fixed. The car is in original condition and the original color is silver and has deluxe interior. I plan on doing a full restoration back to original except for a cowl hood and low rear spoiler and black z-28 stripes. hopefully the picture shows up, this is new to me

Im in Tillamook, I will get some pictures on here soon to show more in detail. Its been in storage for 15 years so I was told. Its unbelievable how much rust was under the vinyl top that you couldn't tell was there. It should be a fun project I owned a 67,72, 73 ,80 when I was younger

Hey Mike,
I might take your advice and put it back fully original, I have a while to think on that subject as I will be working on it in my spare time
thanks for the reply

Hey there, I'm down the road from you a bit. I started tearing into my 71 Z28 and found some rust but now I'm worried that the coastal climate is going to whoop my butt in the rust department!!
Do you have anything in mind to work on encapsulating the rust you have found that hasn't eaten through the metal?

Looks like a decent start. I had a white 74 with red vinyl top for a few years and still like the combo a lot.
Welcome to the board Dales.

I'm going to have my car chemically dipped in eugene after I replace some panels, for the smaller parts I picked up some rust converter from Eastwood that was tested with other brands and test showed that it out-performed the competition. Go to www.eastwood.com . I have also used ospho but Im not sure if that is still available. Hope this helps
