$350 plus $25 plus $15 tip for "the shooter", who did a great job with a body in pretty good shape...
This was a California Car originally with a new 350V8 and trans put in the car in '97.
Runs like a champ....looks cool...$2000 driven to my door in Hoffman Estates, IL. from their new home in Silverton Colorado. Drove down to my place then from Madison Wisconsin, where wife's Dad is terminally ill. Great Couple. Great Car! Interior Good. Excellent choice of 17" Pro rims and Mich's in pretty good shape. Air Suspension in rear.
Leave's my lil '88 Camaro coupe with a 2.8 wishing it could be like it's big brother.
Paid $1000 dollars to a neighbor who was being shipped to the Midle East...he had recently put a grand into brakes, mounts, belts, etc....so I told him I'd buy it for that. Only had 60K...and clean inside. Touched up the outside rustspots (Chicago car) and polished it up with Megular...bought 4 Z Rims for $100 and put about $400 into BF Goodrich 16" RTs!

Thanks for checking it out!

I'm new to the scene, buying the first Camaro just six months ago and the Z last week. But I've certainly got the Camaro spirit now....at the sprite ol' age of 69!!!

I've seen a few decent Maaco jobs but I have also seen some total crap that anybody should have been embarrassed to charge someone more than the cost of the paint for. It may well depend on who owns the franchise.

Hard for a doityourselfer to buy the materials for 350 bucks. Kind of amazing I'm thinking.

I've put two "before" pics at the bottom of my website....
I found one tiny "run" on the "Nessie", and a couple of previous small dings reflect through, but all and all I think they did a remarkable job for the money.

I've got about $300 in paint and paint supplies, not counting my gun. I dropped another $200 on lighting and ventilation for my garage/spray booth though!

This particular Maaco in Schaumburg, Il., runs quite a few cards thru it. The prep fellows...all black....as was the old white-haired dude that shot it....we're perhaps going out of their way (taking a bit more time and care), to do a good job for me. The "shooter" happened to be in the front office when I first walked in...and...was there again when I came to pick it up...he was smiling and gushing a bit as we walked out back to see it. Of course he began mentioning a tip and we sauntered back, and again after I'd circled the car, saying "Sweet!". I had an extra $100 bill with me, a ten and a five...and a few ones.
Big Time Spender gave him the $15...well worth the tiny tip for a good job done!!
BTW if you do have the time to visit my webpage...have a cable connection..wait a minute or two for the music to start...a beautiful theme for a beautiful fall morning.

It's easy to get supplies for the kind of paint Maaco uses for less than $350. Unless you are talking about compressor, spray gun etc http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif. I can get the same Urethane paint my local Maaco uses at the local paint store for ~$6 a quart. Pretty cheap stuff!

tha maaco I worked at was using dupont, maaco also uses naason, or sherwin williams ( few use the dupont our area required the higher end paint and work)

Just came home from "Dude's Performance Shop" annual car show...got there sorta early thismorning, and I talked Dude into slipping my "Maaco Black Magic" into the early lineup for dyno testing--with a $20 Senior Citizen "discount"!!...they did two "pulls" which I'm told, at 4500 RPM did pretty OK...155 Horses and 256 Torque each time..
Yep, here's my new "ol' V8 350 Carburated, vintage '97 Target and PowerTrans... runnin' like cream, with the ol' Michelins hardly smokin'. Next up was a brand new Lincoln...and the damn thing had some sort of engine fire half way through the test EEEK! An ElCamino was first in line, right before me slidin' in... with shiny chromed engine--gorgeous paint job..new, new, new
and he didn't do that much better than I did on the Dyno.
So, I walked around leaving my "pit crew" (Schnauzers) in the car, and some very smart cats would come around and tell me I got quite a deal on the $2000 purchase of the car...and some people--seeing my shiny new Maaco Paint Job, even thought "Black Magic" was entered in the Show competition. Hardy Har!
As you walked down the line, the first twenty cars that pulled in were Cherry inside and under the hood. I may go back thisafternoon as Dudes is known for drawing large crowds...I think the Illinois Camaro club will be there in force as a matter of fact. Location: Dude's Performance Fest II,
lots of activies, food, Awards: Best of Show, Best Club Participation, Best of Class (Sort Luxury, Sport Compact, Muscle, Classic/Hot Rod, Truck/SUV) Best Wheels, Most HP, Most Torque & Best Sound....etc. etc. 36 No. Barrington Rd., Streamwood, IL.
