I've been talking with a guy who has a white 79 Berlinetta. Do white ones still get the dual pin stripe treatment?? If so what color would they be? I've only seen dark ones with white stripes, like mine.

ask him if has pulled his buildsheet yet if it is a true white berlinetta ask him to check for a stripe code it should have a color code beside it. i have a 79 berlinetta it's supposed to be dark blue with stripe. stripe code on mine is 25A.

He said the body tag shows the White code, I'm not sure if he still has the build sheet on it cause he's the 3rd owner. Is there any other way to tell what the stripe color should be? How do you decode the color on the build sheet because I have mine and would like to know.

My guess would be the stripes would coincide with the interior color.

you can use this site to decode the colors.as for your friends white car has he actually looked for the buildsheet? usually it's behind the back seat. i found mine and i'm the third owner of it.

I don't mean to sound stupid, but where exactly behind the back seat would the build sheet be? I've never seen the one for my car and my family's been the only owner. It's not the same as the window sticker is it? The color code is "29L 29U 25A" on my trim tag, so that's a Dark Blue exterior with whatever 25A stripes are. On the decoding page on this site it lists the stripe code as referring to the Z28 and RS but not to the Berlinetta. This has thoroughly confused me because I hadn't thought about a white Berlinetta and the effect it would have on the stripes. I'll ask him to check that stuff out.

ok, he just said his stripe code is 73. would that be a red of some sort? his interior is carmine, so i'm guessing the stripes would be carmine.

for the buildsheet take your botom seat cushions out first then remove the two bolts at the bottom of the rear back.then carefully pull out on the bottom of the seat back and look or feel up behind it for a sheet of paper.be careful if you find some paper cause it can get brittle over time.and no it's not the same as the window sticker,it's the sheet used by the assembly line workers to build the car.i think that the 73code is a shade of red but i'm not sure. the buildshhet will list everything about the car as far as what options the codes for the options, what color, trim, engine, trans, and interior options.i'll do some checking into the stripe codes and let you know.

i have a 73A stripe code, but carmine's color code in all other applications is 74...so i'm confuzzled
i've looked for a build sheet but i only found records of where the car was worked on..mostly just tire changes and ac work...oh and a rust patch that they failed to inform me about...that pisses me off...

ok here's how, you have to push down and back on the bottom cushions to get them to release (cursing involved)once they are out of the way you will see two bolts one on each side take them out and gently pull out on the seat back. then you reach your hand behind the seat and feel for a sheet of paper.be carful with it because it will be fragile. if ya'll have any questions just email me.

Thanks, that's more clear as to where it is. Hopefully I'll get a chance this week to look for mine.
It's not getting the seats out that's hard, it's getting them back in that involves the cursing. http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

The original color of your Berlinetta was code 29, Dark Blue Metalic. The corresponding stripe code that you mentioned is 25A, which is Blue metalic. This is the correct color combination for your car.

If the interior color was either black or light blue, you got the 25A code stripes. If it has the camel tan interior you would get the 53A stripe(gold),if it was oyster you would get the code 25A stripe. No other color combinations or overides were allowed.

The carmine interior was not available with the code 29 ( dark blue) exterior. Your link shows the car as white, most likely the car has been repainted and the interior changed.

79zed, I believe you've got some confusion as to who owns what color car. I own the Dark Blue ext, Light Blue int, with white stripes. I know that I have the correct color/stripe combo and have had no question as to what my colors should be. I just want to look for my build sheet for the heck of it and have been trying to help Luda get his stripes figured out.
The question is with Luda's colors. His trim tag says white exterior with carmine interior and that's how it is. The part nobody seems to know is what color his stripes should be.
Sorry for the confusion.

Doh!! My mistake, sorry about that! If her car is white (code 11) and she has the carmine interior( code 74B, 74C, 74N or 74R, depending on trim), then the stripes are code 73A (red) also. The parts guy at GM should know better.

Hope this helps straighten out my confudion!

I think "A" just refers to it being the stripe color. All of the documentation I've seen refers to all stripes as being "A". I think the only thing that tells what stripe pattern it should be is what model it is e.g. Z28, RS, Berlinetta.

Yes, the "A" does refer to the stripe code.
