Hello all, my name is Mike. I live in south texas and am employed as a police officer. I purchased a 1970 camaro from a coworker who lives for building these babies, about 3 years ago for $1500. I never had a space or time to work on it. I finally bought a house and look forward to working on it now. I plan on doing the bodywork myself, but will more than likely take it to my uncles' shop to have it painted. I have been ready all the threads in the Project Progress section and am very inspired. I look forward to posting my progress and hopefully getting feedback from you guys on the questions i have, because i already have a ton of questions popping up!!!! I will try and post a pic with this but don't know who it will work since all of this is new to me. These pics are of when i first bought it, but the sheetmetal has gotten a lot worse. I don't have the budget to install a 220v plug in my garage or buy a 5hp 80 galloon compressor right now, so if anyone can recommend a standalone sprayer just so i can spray that epoxy primer after doing bodywork i would greatly appreciate it.:bowtie:

Good starting car - you'll be shredding in no time! What are your plans for the build? Motor?

I don't know of a stand alone sprayer for serious stuff, could be one though. You can get a decent compressor for 120v, say a Sears with a 30 gallon tank, and a decent but cheap spray gun at Harbor Freight that will do about anything. Say under $400 for all. Air comes in handy for lots of things on a project like this. Welcome to the site and have fun!

Looks like you've got a good start there!
Take some time to look around the site for ideas and inspiration for which direction you want to take your project.
I'd say go ahead and save for a compressor, doesn't have to be huge or expensive.
I built my car, painted it and all with a smallish 33 gallon Speedaire compressor I bought used for $150. I use it everyday from just airing up tires, using basic air tools (air ratchet, impact, cutting tools), or the occasional sandblasting or paint work. I'll never go without a compressor, couldn't have built my car without it.

I don't know yet. I had a 396 but sold it. I think i will buy a turnkey crate engine, but not real sure. I now i don't want anything real big cuz i want to drive this daily, or weekends and not pay 200 dollars in gas to do that.
