Hey im new to this forum and camaros in general. I just turned 18 and as a senior year project, i talked my dad into restoring an old car. We found this nice 73 camaro from a older man who was in pretty bad shape so thats why he sold it. He was the 2nd owner and he bought it 1 year ago from the original owner who just got done converting it into an 1/4 car. Its got a 468bb turbo 400 which we are going to replace with a 383 very soon. The car has only 2 spots of rust maybe the size of a coke can. We are going to do a complete restoration and will be needing lots of help! Here are some pictures

if I were you I would hold off on the resto and just drive it for a while. Believe me, I wish I would have. I'm almost 18 and this car has been apart for the last year ...about 1 month away from completion.

yeah im driving it as much as i can right now but were going to do it in sections for instance: were going to do the motor swap first so we can have it back driving asap. while the motor is out, we will be adding power disk brakes to all 4 corners.

recent update: we talked to the builder of the 468 and he talked my father into keeping it. were still looking for a power disc brake setup for all 4 wheels. We got priced at $2600 for a complete wilwood set. Is this a little much for brakes?

If you haven't already done so...thank your Dad for the car and especially the opportunity to work side by side with him on it...he will appreciate that more than you know :) And 30 years from now, you will appreciate it very much, too.

Looks like a perfect time to detail the engine compartment..........powerwash, degrease and your ready for the engine. Did you ever decide on the brake upgrades? Now would be a great time to do it. More room to work in !!!

yes we decided to go with the classic performance products 13'' big brake kit with their chrome power brake booster. we are installing that once we finish painting the engine bay which should be by wednesday. once we have the brakes and rearend done, it goes off to paint/body. we took the engine and trans to get rebuilt yesterday

Let your dad know I am up for adoption if he wants to do another rebuild? I'll provide the car, if he can provide the room, food, tools, and money. BTW I'm only 37. He'll need to know that for the adoption papers.
