View Full Version : Gas Prices....Who's driving

Its about 400 miles each way for me, figuring my car gets 15mpg @ 4 bucks a gal (we shall see) plug cruising and beating the car, I will be burning though about $250 in fuel.

I know I'm not the farthest one driving this year, but is the gas price going to be changing how you drive or what you bring. I may leave the camaro home this year and take the non-gm daily driver that gets 38mpg highway.

O for an LSx/t56 swap

We're driving. 600+ miles each way in the suburban. with the trailer probably. 17MPG. not too bad hauling 5 folks and associated support gear.

I'm not nearly as far as you are, Jeff. But I am planning on driving the 72 to Pittsburgh in July for the Tom Henry show and the Cruise to Mars. And if she's done in time, I'll be driving her down to Ocean City for their Cruisin' OC weekend in May. I bought her to drive her - and nothing I own is a fuel sipper, anyway.

Im still planning on driving up. but the closer it gets to carlisle the more i gringe at gas prices. Not sure what kind of gas milage im going to get with new rear end going from 700r4 with 411 to a 342 gear. 850 miles each way for me.

I'm not stressing the gas $$$.. When I drove my car home from Preston,CT to Staten Island,NY, I only used 1/2 tank of gas..

According to mapquest, it was 160 miles..
MQ says Carlisle is 177 miles.. I figure it will cost me like $100-120 roundtrip with tolls, + food..

I'll be driving the monte towing a uhaul this year. That is unless something changes with the van (new tranny). Either way it takes a tank to get down there and 3/4 to get back.

Ps never buy gas in CT if you can help it.

I'm drivin' the "Z" 562 mi from Ontario Canada...according to Google it'll take 9 1/2 hours. Wife asked me how much it was going to cost me for gas, I hummed and hawwed, and then said "never mind...use the credit card and I'll square it away when you get back". What a sweetheart!

Kirk has to drive an extra 3 1/2 to 4 hours to my place before we head out together.

Jeff, I added the google link to my previous message to show everyone my route. I travelled that route down to Chambersburg PA a little further south on business this past year and it was a 10 hour trip.
