Ok guys, here is another ordeal for you. I just bought my car about 3 weeks ago and slowly but surely trying to determine what things I need to rebuild, replace and so. I'm just trying to get my car atleast somewhat road worthy. I've already replaced the plugs and wires, but still getting a very sluggish start on take off. I'm guessing maybe carb needs replacing or rebuilding, timing or distributor problems, hell if I know.

Carb might need a rebuilt...or the float levels adjusted. Exhaust system might have a restriction (bad cats or faulty mufflers). Timing might be off. Lots of variables you need to look into to start with, since its a newer to you car. http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif

Look inside the distributor cap for corrosion. Replace it if it's bad off or just replace it since you're make a fresh run at it. If it's an HEI distributor keep track of wires and where they go. Pop the valve covers off-when not running-and check it out. I found a rocker arm floating around. I was wondering about that miss. Tune the valves or change the rocker arms and tune the new ones. New rocker arms can make a big difference. The carb tuning just go by the book or rebuild kit. Good luck.

Check all the vacuum hoses for cracks. Don't just look at them, twist them about and look for cracks. Actually, I would suggest you replace all the vacuum hoses, filters, PCV, belts and hoses, etc. They are inexpensive parts, could make a big difference, and most likely need to be changed anyway. Plus you'll learn a lot about your engine and as you tinker around maybe discover something broken.
