I'm on my second distributor. Engine oil keeps leaking and pooling in the distributor. Can anyone tell me how it's getting in there? I have about 55 psi oil pressure but I doubt that's too much. This is the second distributor in a month. THANKS!

does the dist. shaft have an oil groove in it? newer dist. have a groove in them to keep oil from working it's way up the shaft. or are the dist. old and in need of new bushings?

I never actually looked to see if there was an oil groove. Would this groove be at the base of the distributor? The two I had problems with are both remanufactured HEI units. I just put the third one in today. Maybe third times the charm.

the oil groove is machined into the dist. shaft, you can only see it if you remove the shaft from the dist.
