where is the fuel sending unit ground wire supposed to be attatched to the car body?

kind of above and behind the gas tank, it's just above the tank where the floor curves upward above the rear suspension, i had to remove my tank to get to mine, the muffler was right in the way.

On my '70, it is soldered at one end to the sending unit on the top of the tank, then runs along the top of the tank towards the back of the car. There, it attaches to the passenger side bracket for the tank strap bolt, with a small screw.
