Well, the carb is on and the car is running great. When my son originally rebuilt the carb he didn't want to spend money for carb cleaner, since it was almost the same price as the rebuild kit. He used a can of my brake fluid instead! I suggested he take it apart once more and this time soak it in carb cleaner. Soaked it overnight and bought a new power piston spring from GM as insurance, I personally blew out all the passages with compressed ait before assembly, didn't want to take any chances when he re-assembled the carb. The result was no more problems!

I was surprised that GM still carried the power piston spring. SInce I had the GM parts book, looking it up and giving them the number made it a lot easier on them.

Anyway, many thanks to all that responded to my initial post and suggested that I look at the carb once again!
