I have a mecanical oil pressure gauge in my '78 Camaro. The tap runs off of the top of the engine, near the distributor (Stock location for the idiot light).
Is there a better place than this?
Long Island Camaro got me thinking (rare, but it happens now and then).

On some block there is a oil pressure port just above the oil filter. What is wrong with the one beside the dist? it tells you that you have good oil pressure all the way up to the camshaft.

There is one at the very front of the block just above the timing cover and to the passenger side. This port gives the most accurate reading as it is the last place that sees oil pressure before it gets dumped on to the timing chain. You will be surprised and how different the two ports will be in psi.

Joe,
Your suggestion sounds the best as I want
to read the lowest #'s in the engine, not
what the pump is putting out.
I'll check the car tomorrow morning and
see if I have enough room for a tap in that
location.
Thanks for everyone's responses...
