I see this is a popluar new section on this board. Maybe it can provoke more progress on some Camaros.
Here are some pictures on my ongoing 72 SS BM recreation. I plan to debut it this year at the shows.

Enjoy:

Why don't you stick pictures of your camaro up in the Progress post? You have done a great deal on it.
If you want me to host them, e-mail me a bunch and I will load them up for you.

MR. FBDY

What spring rate are you running on the QA-1's ??

I ordered them from a QA-1 company on E-bay and they based the spring rate on what the front end weight would be. They asked about hood, fiberglass or steel, they asked SBC or BBC, and heads and intake-steel or aluminum.
Based on what I told them, they recommened the 10GBF450 which is a 450 pound rate.

Here is a pic from Jegs.
http://www.jegs.com/images/photos/100/122/122-10GBF450.jpg

Why do you know any other info? They are adjustable too, so I was hoping to rake the front end a little.

NY is getting warmer, thank God. Spent some time in the garage today working on the BM and got some little things done.

I started with something easy, putting in new door handles. It was a quick easy job since there is no glass in the shells yet.

http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/doorhandleLH.jpg

http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/doorhandleRH.jpg

After the door handles were in, I worked on the taillights, putting on the new bumper, and adjusting the trunk lid. Also put on some emblems too.

http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/rearofBM.jpg

http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/rearofBM1.jpg

Got the package tray all laid out. Decided to finalize this before I put the glass back in. I makes life alot easier with no glass in the way.

http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/packtray1.jpg

Here is the freshly rebuilt TH350 for the car. Built with a custom torque convertor matched to perform with the specs of the engine, rear gear & tire height.

Well another nice day brings some more work in the garage. I had to fill some orders in the AM, but I had all afternoon to work in the garage.

Here is some more progress. I am heading toward getting the headliner reinstalled, but first, while the glass is still out, I had to paint the cowl and the rear package tray trim. Very easy to do if the glass is out.

http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/BMcowl.jpg
http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/BMcowl1.jpg

Taped off the rear molding and painted it black.

Was blue from the body shop
http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/BMpacktray.jpg

Now is black so it will match the interior panels.
http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/BMpacktray2.jpg

Pulled out all the interior and painted the roll cage so it will match the blue interior seats & dash that will go back in.

http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/BMrollcage.jpg
http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/BMrollcage1.jpg

While the rear panels were out, I freshened them up with some new dye too.

Look great Mike! How difficult was the molding to put back on with the new paint?

It wasn't too hard, I was just real careful when putting it on. I have taken off and reinstalled many, so I know which part to click first. BTW: I used all new clips so I didnt have to worry about one not having the "teeth" to grab the molding. Once you hear a good click, you know it is on good.

http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/bmdrside1.jpg

http://www.trikfbdyprtsperformance.com/cm/BM/bmdrside2.jpg

Just a FYI: If you are putting in door guts, channels, door handles and latches, there is a order of doing it. I did it in this order and had good luck in doing it without going back to take something out..

1. Door handle & lock cylinder first.
2. window crank scissors & rear level bar
3. door latch with inner handle rod attached
4. door lock rod
5. slide in glass and bolt to level scissor bar (2 nuts)
6. vertical channel at rear of door (leave it loose)
7. vertical rod in front of door (now secure them)

Snug the nuts down and adjust accordingly. I got mine done with not much aggravation. After glass is adjusted, set the upper channel stops and put in the lower glass stop to keep the glass for going too low.

Hope this helps the next person.

I am sorry guys, no new updates on this car yet. It is killing me to let it sit, but when I got my wife a 70 camaro, my focus was directed to her car to get it a nice driver for her this year. I promise to get back to the BM this fall and over the winter for a debut out next spring.

As matter of fact, I have some progress.

QA-1's installed
Front end rebuilt
BBC and tranny installed
Fuel cell, battery box and NOS bottle installed.

I have a Black Bandit T/A to finish by June and then the BM is primary focus.

Thanks for the compliments. It is about time I get this car done and moving. To answer your question on the stripes, are you doing the same ones as I did? The single one over the roof?

What I did to find out how they were done was compare all the pictures from 70"s magazines as to where they started on the fender and how high they went near the door lock/handle. I discovered that Joel never had a permanent template for the stripes so they all varied a little.

I figured I would start the stripe point as far up the fender where the wheel well roll meets the mid bodyline. Starting farther forward gives you some center stripe on the fender. I took into consideration that the outer thin stripe and the color space in between is 1/4", so this sets you up with how wide the center white is.

From the start point on the fender, I walked to the back of the car and pulled the pin stripe tight and laid it on the cars quarter panel until I got the width I wanted. After you get it where you want the top line, you measure at the body line up and see what you get and then that is the lower thickness as well.

For the back, you do a 90 degree circle corner to get up on the trunk lid and another 90 degree circle corner to go up the trunk to guide the stripe over the roof. To get the measurement of the top stripe, it is the width of the L-88 scoop, just as it starts to round down. That width stays the same from the start of scoop to the trunk lid.

Hope this helps you do yours.

She has moved to the lift now to wait out another project to be completed, wont be long now.
I have a TA in the build garage now and once that is done, the BM will be next.
