Yay! a project forum!

Bought this car sometime ago, after selling my beloved Capri i built, i first bought it as standard at 17, and i was doing 13 second quarters in it when i was just 19.

few pics of said car, i really miss it as it was 100% rust free!

not too shabby looking aye? well the 7 coats of different coloured paint seemed to hide the nasties quite nicely.

it had been bodged quite nicely in the past

rear quarters riveted on, and fillered to hell to get the arches smooth

bit of tin snipped and riveted to the rear screen shut

another metal strip on the bootlid which the spoiler hid quite nicely, again, riveted on.

metal strips removed

Ive always lusted after an earlier 2nd gen, especially RS's. So while i was removing panels, most of which are different to the earlier 2nd gens i decided to repalce all the sheet metal with the earlier sheet metal (rear panel, quarters etc) and make it into my dream car

rear end as it stands atm

now the powerplant......not long ago i found a 454 on ebay over here in the UK, called the guy, went to see it, and offered him not a lot for it. Only 4 hours after it being put on ebay it was removed and i was the new owner of a GenIV 454

my plans are to back it up with a t56, which is a big pain to get as theyre only over with you guys in the states, and no one seems to want to ship them over here, so if anyone has a heads up of someone with one please let me know.

fortunately i work for a porsche specialist/tuner, amd ive been building 911 engines there for the last two and a half years, and the access to sandblasting/milling/turning equiptment helped me out loads with my last car, and im going to make full use of it with this car

ive missed a lot of stuff out as this is sort of a retrospective at the mo, but i look forward to updating it regularly.

cheers guys

Great to see some one wanting to make a 77 to an early model 2 gen Camaro. I have a 77 also that I am planning on doing the same thing too. It will be a couple of years before I start on it. For the last 5 years I have been helping my boys race there 2gen Camaro's. Now they are they are out of school and have jobs. It is Dad's turn to start playing again...LOL So I bought a 77 for myself last week, it is together little rusty, but strong running small block and drive train. I am just going to enjoy racing it for the next 2 seasons and then make it look like a 70 model with a big block. I will keep up with you progress and see how it is done. It has got to be hard to get parts for US cars over there. When I was in Germany in 76 and 77 I did see some Camaro's over there though. I had a new 76 setting at home while I was station over there.. Thanks for the post.

Wow! Really makes mine look like a show car! Kudos to you for taking on such a project, you will love the result! Somewhere in the "projects" forum a member from South America did the same thing...!
Have fun!

im in the process of doing the same thing... check my hybrid thread below some time. theres more to it than you may think...like the rear frame rails need to be extended. as well as the trunk pan...unless of course you buy a 1970 trunk pan. at any rate have fun with it, you only live once!!! keep up the good work
