Todd80Z28 01-08-2008, 09:13:28 PM Too short. The 4th gen shafts are 42.x" long, whereas you'll need something in the 45" range for the T56. For reference, I used a Mustang aluminum driveshaft with conversion Ujoints in my LT1 T56 setup. It's 45.5" center to center, and it's a perfect fit. http://www.nastyz28.com/~Todd80Z28/project_pages/alum_shaft.htm If you're using an LS1 T56 with some adapter plate, you might need to take an inch or so off of mine. Your best bet is to measure... twice.:) Todd tom3 01-08-2008, 09:53:10 PM "The driveshaft, FMS-M4602G, available from Summit for $159.95." That goes back a ways, sure wish it was that price today! Good info on your write up though. Todd80Z28 01-08-2008, 10:32:55 PM Tom, I remembered it was you who mentioned to me "hey you might look into a Mustang shaft, I think they're the same length.":) I think they got miffed at us buying them for Chevys and jacked up the price!:D BonzoHansen 01-09-2008, 10:58:52 AM Too short. This is bad – I had a plan!!! http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=FMS%2DM%2D4602%2DG&N=700+%2D50145+115&autoview=sku You used this one? Still, $249 isn’t the end of the world although I may check out IED or Denny’s. And all you had to do was swap the yoke & front u-joint? Hmm. I still need to pick a shifter too. Dammit. Camarocore 01-09-2008, 11:03:59 AM Todd your project alwayes helps me allot!!!!! thanks!:) 383Camaro79 01-09-2008, 11:28:32 AM the factory 4th gen camaro aluminum driveshafts are not that strong. I had a Denny's alum one made for my s-10 a few years ago it was $400 |
