General Motors Body Types


General Motors identifies body types by letters. For example, the "F-body" or "F" Series GM/Fisher body vehicle is a Chevrolet Camaro or Pontiac Firebird. If you see information that lists the application as "X" that means the GM X body, or Nova/Ventura/Omega/Apollo, etc...

Corvette: Prior to 1972 the body type was the series designation - 194.
